CSS opens new, modern and equipped Wound Clinic in San Antonio

The “Dra. Cecilia Guerra” Wound, Ulcer and Diabetic Foot Healing Clinic opened its doors to the insured community at the San Antonio Polyclinic.

The overall figure showed the need to expand the service, and for this reason this facility was opened, whose care projection is 32 patients daily, with the purpose of complementing the services required by patients from San Antonio, Don Bosco, Brisas del Golf and surrounding areas.

Dr. Noelia Valderrama Romero, coordinator of the Wound Clinic in San Antonio, said that new patients are received every day at the different clinics of the Social Security Fund, the most common wounds being: burns, diabetic foot complications, venous ulcers, among others.

“The main diseases that can cause a wound are diabetes, high blood pressure and the bad habit of smoking,” added the wound healing specialist.

For her part, Dr. Heysel Lawrence, a physician at the Diabetic Foot Clinic, added that patients will be admitted through referral from General Medicine.

The Wound Clinic is made up of offices for the care of contaminated and non-contaminated wounds. As for human resources, there are two general physicians specialized in wound care, a nurse and administrative staff.
