- That on Thursday, March 2, 2023, the existence of an outbreak of Escherichia coli bacteria resistant to carbapenems was detected in some hospital rooms.

- 1. That on Thursday, March 2, 2023, the existence of an outbreak of Escherichia coli bacteria resistant to carbapenems was detected in some hospital rooms.
- 2. Control and prevention measures were immediately established to identify risk factors, biosecurity measures, hospital cleaning, antibiotic management, among others, were reinforced and increased.
- 3. Patients caught with infection or carriers of this bacterium were placed in an isolation room and exclusive nursing staff was assigned to care for them.
- 4. The contacts of the infected and colonized underwent rectal swabs to identify possible new cases.
- 5. Most are colonized patients who do not have infections. They are only carriers of the bacteria, but they have also been isolated according to current protocols.
- 6. The hospital authorities have intensified the active search for other patients, in order to intensify care and appropriate actions.
- 7. It is worth noting that the national level team together with the local level and the medical management are working to guarantee compliance with the measures and rapid control of the event.
- 8. Control of visits continues, with a restriction of one family member per patient, who must comply with biosecurity measures, such as the use of a gown, gloves, and a mask.
- 9. It is made clear to users and the general population that, for the moment, the situation experienced will not affect any of the services provided by the facility.
