Cryptocurrency mining equipment seized

Members of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) together with officials from the Public Ministry (MP), seized illegal cryptocurrency mining equipment in Guárico, according to the Strategic Operational Commander, Domingo Hernández Lárez.

The raid took place in a house located on San José Street, in the El Mirador sector, in the Juan Germán Roscio Nieves municipality, in the Guárico state, according to the document issued by the Third Control Court of San Juan de los Morros.

During the procedure, they managed to seize 35 cryptocurrency mining machines, 30 extractors, two electric fans, a double electric fan, a red Chevrolet vehicle and a white Jeep vehicle, for not having the permits and licenses for their operation.

“Venezuela is a democratic state of law and justice in which there is a legal framework that regulates virtual mining activities and the registration system for virtual miners, virtual exchange houses, and other entities dedicated to savings and virtual intermediation of cryptoassets,” said the head of Ceofanb in his message.

In another procedure carried out in the state of Miranda, FANB officers seized five (05) pieces of religious images impregnated with cocaine, which were in a package identified with the shipping guide N” 9031009212.

The shipment was destined for the city of Zacapa, Republic of Guatemala, and was to be delivered by DHL, located in La California Sur, Sucre municipality, Miranda state.

GEDO

Finally, during patrol work, FANB officers arrested two citizens identified as Elías Rafael Vargas Maya and Yeison José Lisboa González, both members of the Structured Organized Crime Group (Gedo) El Run, in the San Isidro sector, Sifontes municipality, Bolívar state.

During the procedure, a 9 mm Glock pistol-type firearm with no visible serial number was seized from them; two pistol magazines; 47 unexploded 9 mm cartridges; 30 unexploded 7.62×51 mm cartridges and two radio transmitters.

“In Venezuela, permits and licenses for carrying weapons are suspended, so only the State may possess and use weapons of war and ammunition. Those that exist will be transferred to the State without compensation or trial,” Hernández Lárez stressed.
All procedures were left to the Public Prosecutor’s Office.”
