Santo Domingo. – Justice has taken a first firm step in a case that shudders national consciousness. José Antonio Glass (Yoyón), 57 years old, he has been sent to preventive detention for three months as the main one accused of sexual violation and the murder of a child of only 10 years, whom he stole near his home in Santo Domingo Este.
Last Saturday, September 27, at 5:20 in the afternoon, the life of the young victim was truncated. Taking advantage of his vulnerability and special condition, Glass stole the child around his mother’s house in the Puerto Rico neighborhood, the mine.
What followed was a macabre walk: the accused went with the child from the mine to the Los Pinos de Sabana Lost sector, in Santo Domingo Norte.
The horror scenario
It was in a wooded area of Los Pinos where, according to the file of the Public Ministry, the aggression materialized. With a “manifest cruelty and ruthlessly,” Glass committed sexual abuse and then proceed to strangle the victim, causing death.
The child’s body was found the following Sunday, September 28, 2025, a finding that unleashed outrage and clamor for justice.
The coercion measure, requested by prosecutor Tito Osea González, was imposed by Judge Karen Minetty married to the Judicial Office of Permanent Attention Services of Santo Domingo Este, and must be fulfilled in the National Penitentiary of Victory.
The Public Ministry has assigned to the case of serious provisional legal qualifications under the Dominican Criminal Code (articles 295, 297, 298, 302 and 331) and Law 136-03, which protects children and adolescents (articles 110 and 396 literals A, byc).
What aggravates horror is the record of recidivism of the accused. José Antonio Glass had already served a complete sentence of 15 years in prison for an identical crime: the sexual violation of another 10 -year -old boy.
This antecedent highlights a criminal pattern and underlines the urgency of more strict security measures to protect Dominican children from repeat affrontants.
The investigation, in charge of the prosecutor Ivette Mateo, will continue its course to ensure an exemplary sentence for this atrocious crime that has enlivened the Lost Sabana and the country.
