The Permanent Assembly of Human Rights (APDH) denounced this Thursday that “once again, Illegality is the rule in a Government of Together for Changein this case in the Government of Horacio Rodríguez Larreta in the CABA”, harshly criticizing the operation of the facial recognition system for fugitives of the Buenos Aires administration, which was suspended this week by the Justice.

“Once again illegality is the rule in a government of Together for Change, in this case in the government of Horacio Rodríguez Larreta in CABA,” they pointed out from the leadership of the APDH in a document released this Thursday under the title: “Espionage and repression do not stop. The transformation is not for the people of CABA”.

This week, the Buenos Aires Justice suspended the facial recognition system for fugitives of the Government of the City of Buenos Aires after detecting an illegal use that allowed access to biometric data of millions of people who were not being sought, including political leaders, social, trade union and human rights, as well as judges, businessmen and journalists.

The decision was adopted by the City’s Contentious, Administrative and Tax Judge, Roberto Gallardo, who also ordered a battery of test measures that included, among other measures, the seizure of computers and devices by the Security Police. Airport (PSA) in the Urban Monitoring Center located in Patricios at 1100, in the neighborhood of Barracas.

In a document signed by the leadership of the ADPD, headed by Mariana Lamorgia, Ramiro Gerber, Enrique Rocatti, “three very serious events presented this week in different areas” of Buenos Aires were denounced.

“The first of them, the tattooing of children with logos and propaganda of the City Government in a school. Second, another Larreta minister, Security, Marcelo D’Alesandro illegally accessed data that compromised security and the intimacy of different opponents of the PRO sign, including public officials, among them the President (Alberto Fernández) and the Vice President of the Nation” Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, says the document.

“Then, it seems that the Gestapo has not been completely dismantled and that from the institutional the PRO continues to persecute, harass and violate the rights of political opponents in the City of Buenos Aires”, they remarked.

“The third fact to be mentioned -they added- is the repression exercised days ago by the CABA police to the demonstrators in the Incawhich culminated in the undue and arbitrary detention of a film student”.

For the leaders of the APDH, “each of these acts violates the principles of democracy and the full validity of Human Rights, and as APDH-CABA we want to make our own our most energetic repudiation. It is in this way that Together for the Cambio (JxC) and Rodríguez Larreta execute and exercise social control in the CABA: tattooing and violating children’s rights, repressing students, and spying on opposition political and social figures.”

Finally they warned that these practices from the local government “are part of a real shame, where the State is used for illegality and that it is also trying to justify practices that were carried out in the darkest times of the history of humanity and of our country. An affront to the Republic, to the institutions and to the democracy that cost us so much to reconquer in Argentina”.
