The Minister of the General Secretariat of the Presidency (Segpres), George Jacksonmet this Wednesday with the group of senators of the Socialist Party (PS), regarding the criticism they issued for the announcement of the extreme urgency of the amnesty project for the so-called prisoners of the social outbreak.
Lawmakers pointed to a lack of coordination over the announcement. “The fundamental error is that a minister who brings a project of these characteristics to Parliament, the first thing he has to know is that he has to have the votes and for that, pre-legislative work is done, with a lot of dialogue, which has not been done” said senator PS Felipe Espinoza.

Consulted by the meeting, Jackson said that “certain queries were raised and even certain differences that there could be on some criteria, which, by the way, have some justification”, collects Cooperative Radio.
“I believe that when there is this dialogue, a much better understanding can be reached and, therefore, channels can be established that allow us to anticipate these differences, instead of having to also expose them from the public space,” he added.
For his part, the head of the caucus of the PS senators, José Miguel Insulza, expressed that “a large part of the doubts and problems that existed have been clarified.”
“Regarding the substantive issues that have been raised, we received some preliminary answers and we will continue working together. Our approach has always been the same: we have to have clarity with the Government regarding all purposes and points; operate with two coalitions does not make sense, because we are a single government,” he said.
