The Vice President of the Nation, Cristina Fernandez de Kirchnermade her first public appearance in Avellaneda after being convicted in the Highway case, where she received six years in prison and perpetual disqualification from holding public office, even so, the sentence is not final and the vice president has privileges.
In that case, the sentence was handed down to Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner for being the head of an illegal association, after the ruling, announced that will not appear as candidate to any public office for the elections that will take place in 2023, for this reason he will not have privileges at the end of his term and thus will challenge the Judiciary to make his sentence effective.
In the reappearance that took place today, Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner ruled against the ruling reached by the Supreme Court of Justice, where the money received by co-participation to the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires (CABA) is raised up to 2.95%. The vice president claims that “the Court ignored a law, something unusual. Laws cannot be suspended, and the only one that can do so is Congress.”
Among her statements, the vice president and former president of Argentina recalled that former president Mauricio Macri raised by decree up to 3.5% the amount received by CABA from co-participation: “He gave a lot to the Government of the City of Buenos Aires, the richest city in the Argentine Republic. What he took from that portion that went to the other provinces he gave to the city of Buenos Aires”.
On the other hand, as soon as her speech began, the vice president clarified why she will not be a candidate: “They began to talk about Cristina’s resignation and self-exclusion. The only resignation that Peronism had was that of Eva Perón. And here there is no self-exclusion either, here there is a ban ”These strong statements change the character of not running for the elections that was understood by the former president.
The double standard denounced by Cristina
Near the end of his speech, Fernández de Kirchner referred to a “double standard” to question officials. He began with the example of Juan Ameri: “I remember that during the pandemic, when the sessions were held via Zoom, a deputy (Juan Emilio Ameri) was fired” and clarified the unusual situation due to which it happened.
Then he said: “They have disregarded some other deputy as well, as was the architect (Julio) De Vido, who was imprisoned for two years for a cause”, and he continued to mention Geraldo Milman as a counterpart: “And what happens? When we found out through the media that Mr. (Milman) has I don’t know how many young ladies in charge. But not only that, being a member of the Security Commission he had links and contracts with security companies ”, he did not fire.
