Absent from the summer tour of Thailand and Australia, Cristiano Ronaldo made his return with Manchester United in the friendly against Rayo Vallecano (1-1), this Sunday at Old Trafford.

While rumors have been circulating for weeks about his departure, the 37-year-old Portuguese star reappeared with the ‘Red Devils’ in this preparation match against the Madrid club.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner played the first half before giving up his place on the pitch to young Ivorian winger Amad Diallo, 20 years old, who opened the scoring shortly after (48), at the end of an action initiated by the Danish signing Christian Eriksen.

Andoni Iraola’s pupils equalized through Álvaro García (57).

Ronaldo had been left out of the squad for Saturday’s friendly against Atlético de Madrid in Oslo.

When leaving the locker room for the warm-up, the former Real Madrid and Juventus player received applause from the fans, who he waved to.

Back last season at Manchester United (where he had already played from 2003 to 2009), and with a contract until 2023, Ronaldo would have expressed his desire to be transferred, while United, sixth in the Premier League, will not play the Champions League this season.

The Argentine Lisandro Martínez also played an hour with United.
