Guerrero, the eighth most violent state
The state governed by Morena member Evelyn Salgado is the eighth most violent state in the country due to the number of homicides it records: an average of four violent deaths per day.
Between January and June, 845 intentional homicides have been recorded in Guerrero, representing 5.5% of all homicides in the country.
Together with Guanajuato, Baja California, the State of Mexico, Chihuahua, Jalisco, Morelos and Michoacán, they account for 9,952 homicides (65%), which occurred in the first half of the year.
A constant criticism of the governor is her silence in the face of the violence affecting the state.
The federal government led by President López Obrador has expressed its support by sending members of the Armed Forces and in episodes such as when the Secretary of Security was replaced due to the murder of the student teacher.
We support the governor of Guerrero, who is not alone. She made the decision to remove the secretary of security and the secretary of government.”
Andrés Manuel López Obrador, President of Mexico.
The violence affecting Guerrero is due to the fact that the state faces confrontations between around 16 criminal organizations, including Los Tlacos, Los Ardillos, Los Rojos, Los Tequileros, La familia michoacana, as well as the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel and the Sinaloa Cartel.
A few days ago, Ricardo Trevilla Trejo, head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the National Defense, He acknowledged that violence has increased in Acapulco, Guerrero following the passage of Hurricane Otis.
“Since Hurricane Otis, crime and homicides have dropped significantly, but with the recovery phase, these crimes are also increasing and therefore there is a confrontation between two criminal groups that have also changed their modus operandi, that is, if before they killed with many firearms, now they do it with knives,” he explained.
