Crisis in EsSalud: Emergencies collapsed in Chiclayo and patients without medications in Arequipa

Changing babies in EsSalud Arequipa: They ignored suspicion of HIV in the patient

The crisis in the EsSalud health system continues to affect thousands of insured nationwide, due to the complex situation in hospital centers. Given this, Congresswoman María del Carmen Alva sent a letter to the executive president of EsSalud, Segundo Acho Mego, to once again demand immediate measures.

Through Official Letter No. 538-2025-2026-MCAP/CR, the parliamentarian requested detailed information on the actions taken in response to the situation of the Almanzor National Hospital Aguinaga Asenjo of Chiclayo, where the emergency service is overwhelmed and patients are treated in corridors and in precarious conditions.

The document also warns about the problems registered in the Hospital III EsSalud Yanahuara of Arequipawhere patients with autoimmune diseases report the prolonged shortage of essential biological medications, which has generated a deterioration in their health status.

Alva maintained that these facts evidence a structural crisis in the management of EsSalud that violates the right to health and affects the continuity and quality of medical care.

Likewise, he recalled that days ago he requested explanations for complaints of long lines, lack of appointments and inoperative equipment in hospitals in Lima, such as Guillermo Almenara and Alberto Sabogal.
