“All my solidarity to Lula and the people of Brazil. Fascism decides to strike. The rights have not been able to maintain the pact of non-violence. It is urgent time for an OAS meeting, if you want to continue to live as an institution and apply the Democratic Charter“Petro said in a message posted on Twitter.
The Colombian president added that he proposed that “the Inter-American Human Rights System be strengthened by applying current regulations and expanding the charter to women’s, environmental and collective rights“.
However, Petro noted that the response to that proposal is “parliamentary coups or far-right violent coups“, also referring to what happened on December 7 in Peru, when the then president Pedro Castillo He was removed by Congress after attempting a coup.
