Security agencies in the state of Táchira managed to kill two individuals linked to the murder of a regional police officer on August 29 in La Tendida, Samuel Darío Maldonado municipality, in the northern part of the state.
The incident occurred early Thursday morning, once the uniformed officers were able to locate the criminals and, upon noticing their presence, they opened fire on the police commission.
Police Chief Wilman José Rivera Torres, director of Politáchira, explained that there are similar characteristics between this encounter and the one on the 29th, such as the use of a vehicle and the firearms used by the criminals.
“The characteristics found were the same: a truck and the firearms used to kill our official,” he said.
A series of explosive devices and a hand-made document were seized from the van used by the criminals. The document showed an image of an electrical station, an element that provides an idea of an alleged sabotage of the electrical system in Táchira by the victims.
“Here in Táchira, no crime will go unpunished and we are obliged to give an immediate response like this one we are giving after having been involved in this special operation for 5 days since what happened to our colleague.”
Coordination with the Colombian police
During the course of the investigations by the security forces and in coordination with the Colombian Police, it was learned that these people were wanted due to their high level of danger and “the process of fully identifying the other individuals is in progress, in order to capture each of those responsible for the vile murder of the Politáchira officer.”
