After the dissemination of a video that showed the fight that the health personnel of the Goyeneche hospital had during a mother’s birth, not only administrative sanction actions have been initiated; The Prosecutor’s Office also opened a preliminary investigation for the alleged crime against the life, body and health to the detriment of the newborn.
From the Public Ministry it was reported that the preliminary investigation is against the obstetrician Ana CRwho, according to the complaint received, would have failed to comply with the protocols established in the Technical Health Standard No. 214 – MINSA/DGIESP-2024 for Comprehensive Neonatal Health Care.
In the video released, the fight that the obstetrician had with the specialist nurses due to the distance at which the umbilical cord had to be cut, which was pulled several times, affecting the health of the newborn and generating pain and discomfort for the mother. This fact was also reported by the mother, Natividad, to SuSalud.
The preliminary investigation for a period of 60 days contemplates the carrying out of various errands such as collecting statements, requiring documentation from the Goyeneche hospital regarding the people involved in the delivery care of the pregnant woman. Likewise, request the medical history, among other necessary and urgent procedures.
POLICE INVESTIGATED
The Prosecutor’s Office also opened a preliminary investigation against an officer from the Santa Marta police station who was on duty at the hospital the day the events occurred. The investigation is by the alleged commission of the crime against the administration of justice in the form of omission of functions, to the detriment of the mother of the newborn, since she did not receive the complaint of what happened inside the delivery room.
