Interior acquired 50 thermal scopes
The Minister of the Interior, Luis Alberto Heber, participated yesterday Tuesday in the ceremony in which 50 thermal visors were delivered to the Rural Security brigades of the headquarters throughout the country. The investment of the Secretary of State for said equipment totaled 200,000 dollars. “They are technological elements that help the Police to have better tools to fight crime,” said the minister.
The event took place at the headquarters of the Ministry of the Interior and the national director of Rural Security, Williard González, participated, in addition to the head of the portfolio.
As reported by Heber, the secretariat invested 200,000 dollars to acquire 50 thermal visors that will be distributed in all the country’s headquarters. He added that the kits will be useful, especially for rural areas, to prevent crime and control packs. “It is a great advance for the Police,” he said.
González, for his part, indicated that thermal sights allow detecting a target by temperature at 1,000 meters, regardless of ambient light. Likewise, he pointed out that the devices will be distributed, especially, in the Departmental Brigades of Rural Security.
In addition, he stressed that the crime of rustling takes place to a greater extent at night and that, with the acquisition of the equipment, observation posts will be implemented to detect the movement of people.
In this sense, he reported that since 2019 complaints of rustling have been reduced by more than 50%, as well as the number of animals in question due to this type of crime.
