Residents in the sector Heights of Cancino in Santo Domingo Este complain that they are victims of criminals who plague the area committing robberies and assaults.
They say that men on motorcycles often move around the sector and strip their belongings from those they find at any time of the day or night.
They deplore that they no longer know what actions they are going to take to protect themselves because the perpetrators even mock police surveillance, which they say occurs with some regularity, but they take advantage of the moments of absence.
“People who go to work early have to be very vigilant because when they come to see two arrive in one engine and the one riding in the back dismounts, points it at their gun and takes everything away from it”, Diógenes Cruz, a resident of the place, told this medium.
He argued that the neighbors do not want to sit down or in the galleries of their houses to manipulate a cell phone, for fear that motorists pass through the street, call their attention to the device they have in their hands and decide to take it from them at gunpoint.
Other residents say that the situation becomes more critical at night, because the circulation of people is reduced early for fear of being robbed, which makes easy prey for those who take to the streets.
They say that the most dangerous road is the street Diego de Ocampoone of the main ones for the access and exit of the sector and that connects with most of the secondary ones.
