Crews from Idaan continue logistics work at the Federico Guardia Conte Water Treatment Plant

The Institute of National Aqueducts and Sewers (Idaan), in the afternoon of Thursday, reported that there was low pressure and lack of drinking water service in the high points and far from the network of the district of San Miguelito, Panama, Panama North and Panama East to Pedregal.

This was due to the fact that the Federico Guardia Conte Water Treatment Plant was operating at 90% of its capacity due to an incident in a pump at the treated water station.

The Idaan assured that the technical personnel carried out the evaluation of the impact of the event to proceed to correct the fault, however, since the early hours of this Friday, several users denounced on social networks that they had woken up without the water supply.

The director of Operations of the entity, Iván Cano, indicated that the logistics continue to be carried out to start the removal of the pump, to be able to verify it and urge it to recover the totality of the water production.

Cano stressed that at the moment some sectors are affected, as a result of this 10% decrease in production, such as: “we have high sectors of Hato Pintado, the Betania pumping station is working intermittently, Dos Mares, high points of the district of San Miguelito and remote areas in East Panama”.
