The National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) approved R$7.7 billion in credit for the Northeast Region in the first half of this year. The volume is 196% higher than the R$2.6 billion in the same period last year, according to data released this Tuesday (6) by the bank.
In addition to the increase in credit approval, BNDES increased the volume of disbursements, that is, the transfer of money from the bank to the enterprise, by 47% in the same period. The volume went from R$4.7 billion in the first half of 2023 to R$6.9 billion in the first six months of this year.
Representatives of BNDES are meeting this Tuesday, in Recife, with the Northeast Consortium, Sudene, Banco do Brasil, Caixa and Banco do Nordeste, in addition to state secretaries.
The meeting this Tuesday, according to BNDES, is to identify investments in strategic production chains for generating employment and income and to coordinate the offer of credit lines, particularly from federal public banks, to production chains in the territories of the Northeast Region.
