Creative companies in Brazil promote exchanges with Ibero-America

Companies and entrepreneurs from the cultural and creative sectors of Brazil and other countries will gather at the mega business event called the Brazilian Creative Industries Market (MICBR), which takes place for the second time in the country, but in virtual format this year. The MICBR was created from a joint initiative of the Special Secretariat for Culture, linked to the Ministry of Tourism, and the Organization of Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture (OEI). The event will run until the 19th of this month. Registration is open and can be done through the site.

As informed to the Brazil Agency the National Secretary for Creative Economy and Cultural Diversity, Aldo Valentim, the focus of the MICBR 2021 is to promote Brazilian entrepreneurs, or people linked to the creative economy and promote exchange between Brazil and other Ibero-American countries. Through a public notice, 115 national entrepreneurs were selected to participate in the business roundtables, who will have contact with programmers, curators and international buyers. “This is the part of the event focused on internationalization”, highlighted the secretary.

In addition, the MICBR will offer a series of training activities, such as lectures, workshops, short courses, aimed at the general public and, mainly, people linked to the cultural sector, with the theme of entrepreneurship, internationalization, financing for culture, and that will have the presence of great specialists. There are about 30 activities.

The previous edition, in person, took place in 2018, in São Paulo. “Now, due to the covid-19 pandemic, we are doing a virtual edition, in partnership with the OEI, which involves 22 countries in Ibero-America,” said Valentim. The MICBR 2021 will also bring together 30 speakers and involve representatives from nine cultural segments: audiovisual and animation; design; fashion; editorial; electronic games; song; museums and heritage; crafts and performing arts.

Heating

The MICBR 2021 aims to disseminate and promote Brazilian culture and arts abroad, generate business, create spaces for the exchange of professional contacts (networking), opportunities to present products and services (pitchings), in addition to training activities for entrepreneurs, such as lectures, seminars, workshops and mentoring clinics. “The activities are all free”, informed Aldo Valentim.

According to the secretary, the event marks the return of the post-pandemic sector. “Because, now, we need to work on heating this market, to get out of the period of emergency aid, the Aldir Blanc Law, among other actions that the federal government has taken, aimed at the events, entertainment and audiovisual sector, which were data last year and this year, and really get into the post-pandemic. That is, to encourage the return of business, exchanges and commercial promotion of these artistic activities here in Brazil and abroad”.

The opening ceremony on the 17th, at 7 pm, will feature lectures by Raphael Callou, director of the Organization of Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture in Brazil, and Aldo Valentim, National Secretary for Creative Economy and Cultural Diversity . At 8 pm, there will be a presentation by the Chorando Pitangas Group, in charge of the Director of Digital Development of the Royal Shakespeare Company (RCS), Sarah Ellis, with the theme The post-pandemic and the recovery of the creative economy in the area of ​​digital arts and music.

The MICBR is aimed at cultural entrepreneurs; companies in the sector; artists and creators; people interested in the field of culture; and suppliers of materials or labor.
