The IMSS reported that it created, at the Oncology Hospital of the Siglo XXI National Medical Center, the first committee to evaluate the surgical management of patients with religious beliefs that condition medical procedures, such as surgical blood transfusion.
Rafael Medrano, director of the Oncology Hospital, reported that from this committee it was possible to operate on the first patient with a religious belief by minimally invasive surgery with the Da Vinci platform.
The 65-year-old patient underwent surgery to remove a tumor from the pancreas in December and only had a hemorrhage of one hundred milliliters. She currently has improved her health and is being monitored.
