Three workers were injured today (2) when they were hit by a crane in the shed of the Tom Maior Samba School, at Fábrica do Samba, in the Barra Funda neighborhood. According to the Fire Department, one of them had an exposed fracture in the leg and was transported by helicopter to the Hospital das Clínicas.
Another man, 27 years old, had a bruise on his shoulder and injuries to his ear and was taken to the Emergency Room in Santana. The third person hit, aged 22, had a wound on his face, a bruise on his left shoulder and leg and was taken to the Penteado Emergency Room.
The Independent League of Samba Schools in São Paulo reported that the people affected by the crane were working for Tom Maior. The shed where the accident occurred is for the exclusive use of the association and is used for the production of allegories.
The entity reported that the warehouses at Fábrica do Samba have protective equipment and that service providers and artists are “duly instructed to carry out their activities safely”.
“All the necessary assistance was provided by the Fire Department and the service providers were promptly rescued and taken to the hospital”, says the note. The entity also informed that “it is providing all assistance to workers and their families”.
