The Peruvian Press Council (CPP), through a statement, has asked the Public Ministry and the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) to provide details and public explanations on the raid and lockout of the offices of Radio PBO, a medium that has among its main drivers Philip Butters.
The organization noted that “it will always be a defender of formality in the communications industry.” In that sense, he pointed out that “he recognizes that, by raiding and unlocking a radio that lacks authorization or an operating license from the Ministry of Transport and Communications, a procedure is being followed that conforms to the Radio and Television Law”.
“Such is the case of Radio Tigre, represented by Ricardo Martín Belmont Vallarino, with the commercial name Radio PBO, which does not have a license to operate,” the CPP specified in its statement.

However, the organization questioned the moment in which the prosecution, since Radio Tigre (with trade name PBO) had not had a license since 2019, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Transport.
The CPP added that there remains “the question of why no action was taken when appropriate —the date when the license expired— and, rather, they choose to close an opposition line radio at this time”.
“The Prosecutor’s Office and the Ministry of Transport and Communications must explain both the delay and the opportunity to carry out the actions taken,” he concluded.

Second Court of Preparatory Investigation of Chorrillos authorized diligence
As La República learned, the measures were approved by Judge Tony Solano Pérez, of the Second Preparatory Investigation Court of Chorrillos, following a request made by the director of MTC sanctions, Georgi Carlo Ickovic Padilla.
The diligence was carried out at the premises of PBO, located in Cerro Marcavilca – Morro Solar (Chorrillos), because “the provision of the frequency modulated sound broadcasting service has been verified without the corresponding authorization from the ministry, conduct that constitutes an administrative infraction classified as very serious,” the resolution limited.
