Sources close to the family told the voice of america that the reporter who was arrested Wednesday morning after broadcasting a religious activity on the Facebook page The coverwould have been transferred to the maximum prison known as El Chipote, in Managua, and since then they have not been able to see him.

“Authorities must immediately release journalist Víctor Ticay and cease his relentless campaign to intimidate and threaten the press into silence or exile,” added CPJ’s Martínez.

As of the time of this publication, the charges against the reporter are unknown. Neither the National Police nor the prosecutor’s office have referred to the arrest of Ticay.
