The section was affected in June by a partial loss of banking, which generated the need for corrective and preventive actions to guarantee the stability of the road and user safety. The intervention includes a series of geotechnical stabilization and functional recovery of the road.

“After an exhaustive technical evaluation with the objective of defining and implementing the most appropriate and effective solutions to address contingency in a timely manner and guarantee road safety and continuity of the service, a series of comprehensive interventions were established in the Sinifaná sector, oriented to geotechnical stabilization and functional recovery of the road,” Roberto Uparela, Executive Vice President of the ANI said.

The execution of the works will have an estimated duration of eight months and an approximate investment of $ 17 billion. Scheduled activities include preliminary works, earth movements, construction of hydraulic structures, and other work necessary for the rehabilitation of the sector.

The entity reported that these tasks will begin during the dry season, although constant monitoring will be maintained to evaluate the relevance of suspending or rescheduing some activities in case of heavy rains. The priority will be to maintain security on the work site and efficiency in the tasks that can be executed under adverse climatic conditions.

Regarding the possibility of enabling traffic in the intervened section, the ANI clarified that The expectation of a partial reopening is maintained. This will be carried out under controlled conditions and with the necessary restrictions to guarantee the safety of users, in case the technical conditions allow it.

Alternate routes to guarantee mobility

During the period of execution of the works, alternate routes have been arranged to maintain connectivity between the regions. These options will be available for both light vehicles and cargo vehicles, with the aim of avoiding major interruptions in the mobility of the area.

Among the routes enabled for light and cargo vehicles are:

Spring – Mines – La Pintada

Medellín – Santa Fe de Antioquia – Bolombolo, for heavy load vehicles

Camilo CE – Venice – Bolombolo sector

Camilo Cé – Fredonia – Puente Iglesias

For heavy load vehicles that are mobilized towards Medellín, the alternative will be the La Pintada – Spring. On the contrary, from Medellín to Bolombolo, it is recommended to use the Santa Fe de Antioquia – Bolombolo road.

The authorities called on transporters and travelers to address the recommendations and follow the instructions marked on the alternate roads, in order to reduce risks and facilitate traffic in the region while the works are developed.
