Covid: there are eight continuous weeks of case reduction

The daily report issued by the Department of Epidemiology of the Departmental Health Service (Headquarters) indicates a drop in covid cases for the eighth consecutive week. This Monday registers 57 new cases of contagion and a hundred people who have overcome the disease.

The statistics for Epidemiological week 37 contemplates 426 accumulated cases of contagion. Carlos Hurtado, Headquarters epidemiology manager highlights a decrease of 372 infections compared to the previous week. Also, eight continuous weeks with a reduction in cases are accumulated.

The data corresponding to This Monday they report 57 cases distributed in four municipalities. Santa Cruz de la Sierra registers the highest number of patients with 54. Cotoca, Montero and Buenas Vista with one case, respectively, complete the list of positive cases.

The positivity rate remains around 4% of the tests carried out. In Hurtado’s opinion, these data show the descent of the epidemiological curve and the control of the disease.

In the intensive care units of the health system there are 19 people hospitalized and 12 are attached to a respirator.

Despite this slight and sustained decline, Hurtado calls for continued compliance with biosecurity measures to avoid infections.

Furthermore, he insists on importance of mass vaccination to win the battle against covid. Today 1,796 people were immunized. “Covid-19 is in a steep decline, but it is not over yet. The only way to consolidate the success zone is to continue with mass vaccination,” said the health authority.
