Covid report: another week without deaths and admission to intensive care

The Ministry of Health reported that during Epidemiological Week 44, which runs from October 30 to November 5, 4,568 samples, of which 32 tested positive for Covid-19thus totaling 718,049 positive cases since the start of the pandemic.

Dr. Sandra Irala, in charge of dispatching the General Directorate of Health Surveillance, indicated that the increase in cases is observed mainly in Asunción and Central. Asunción went from counting 7 to 11 cases, between one week and another; and Central verified 6 to 9 cases.

Seven departments are without confirmed cases with regard to this last week evaluated: in the northern axis, San Pedro; on the southern axis, Paraguarí, Misiones and Ñeembucú; and in the Chaco axis, the departments of Boquerón, Pdte. Hayes and Upper Paraguay. At another point, he reported that there are regions that have not registered cases of COVID-19 for two months.

As long as there are seven people hospitalized, of which one is hospitalized in intensive care due to Covid-19.

The Health report highlights that In the aforementioned week, no deaths from the disease were recorded, so the total figure remains at 19,608.

In the last eight weeks, 25 deaths were reported, located in 13 departments. 40% of these deaths correspond to Central and Itapúa. The most affected age group is that of older adults: 14 (56%) are over 60 years old and 7 are over 80 years old). 84% had at least one comorbidity.
