Covid hospital occupancy drops to 2%

SANTO DOMINGO.-The Ministry of Public Health reported this Friday 68 new cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours and zero deaths.

With this figure, the number of active cases in the country stands at 146, while the number of deaths remains at 4,375, according to bulletin number 750 released by the General Directorate of Epidemiology (DIGEPI).

Since the pandemic began in the country, 578,484 cases have been registered, of which 573,963 have been recovered while 2,667,380 have been ruled out by laboratory tests.

In the last 24 hours, 4,189 samples have been processed, of these 623 were PCR and 3,566 antigen. Daily positivity stands at 2.65% and in the last four weeks at 0.90%, while a total of 3,245,864 samples have been processed.

Regarding hospital occupancy, of a total of 585 Intensive Care (ICU) beds, 18 are in use, which represents 3 percent, while of 469 system fans, 12 people are connected, for 3 percent, and of the 2,373 COVID beds that the Hospital Network has, 59 are occupied, for 2 percent.

The lethality is 0.76 percent and the mortality per million inhabitants is 418.72.
