Covid-19: Minsal reports 25 deaths, 7,779 new infections and national positivity of 12.71%

The Ministry of Health reported 7,779 new cases of Covid-19, with a positivity rate of 12.71% in the last 24 hours nationwide, after carrying out 56,823 exams, PCR and antigen tests.

The health authority pointed out that the variation of new confirmed cases at the national level is 18% and -6% for the comparison of seven and 14 days, respectively. Meanwhile, only one region decreases its cases in the last seven and nine do so in 14 days.

According to sample collection, the regions with the highest positivity in the last week are Antofagasta, Coquimbo, O’Higgins and Valparaíso. Meanwhile, the Atacama region has the highest current incidence rate per 100,000 inhabitants, followed by the Arica, Antofagasta and Tarapacá regions.

According to today’s report, of the total new cases of Covid-19, 4,379 correspond to symptomatic people and 1,339 do not present symptoms. In addition, 2,061 Positive PCR tests were registered that were not notified.

The total number of people who have been diagnosed with the disease in the country reaches 4,241,546. Of that total, 38,940 patients are in the active stage. The recovered cases are 4,137,855.

Regarding deaths, according to the information provided by the DEIS, in the last 24 hours there were 25 deaths from causes associated with the coronavirus. The total number of deaths amounts to 59,577 in the country.

To date, 167 people are hospitalized in Intensive Care Units, of which 111 are supported by mechanical ventilation. In relation to the Integrated Health Network, there are a total of 278 critical beds available for the patient who requires it, regardless of the region where they are located.

Regarding the Laboratory Network and diagnostic capacity, the results of 56,823 PCR tests and antigen tests were reported yesterday, reaching a total of 42,057,804 analyzed nationwide to date. The positivity for the last 24 hours at the country level is 12.71% and in the Metropolitan Region it is 11.89%.

Regarding the Sanitary Residences, we have 30 accommodation facilities, with a total of 2,174 beds. The actual occupation at the national level is 55%, leaving a total of 740 beds available for use.
