Covid-19: Minsal reports 2,117 infections and 12 new deaths in the last 24 hours

The Ministry of Health reported 2,117 new cases of Covid-19 in Chile, with a positivity rate of 4.23% in the last 24 hours nationwide, after carrying out 48,384 exams, PCR and antigen tests. Daily positivity in the Metropolitan Region is 5.78%.

The variation of new confirmed cases at the national level is -12% and -29% for the comparison of seven and 14 days, respectively. Meanwhile, 13 regions have decreased their confirmed cases in the last seven days and 15 in the last 14 days.

Of the 2,117 new cases, 31% are diagnosed by antigen test, 45% originate from Active Case Search (BAC) and 21% of those reported are asymptomatic. As for the Metropolitan Region, it presents 22% due to antigen, 42% due to BAC and 18% of the notified cases are asymptomatic.

According to sample collection, the regions with the highest positivity in the last week are Valparaíso, Metropolitana, O’Higgins and Magallanes. Meanwhile, the Magallanes region has the highest current incidence rate per 100,000 inhabitants, followed by the Atacama, Metropolitan and Valparaíso regions.

According to today’s report, of the total new cases of Covid-19, 1,136 correspond to symptomatic people and 301 do not present symptoms. In addition, 680 Positive PCR tests were registered that were not notified.

The total number of people who have been diagnosed with the virus in the country reaches 3,561,016. Of that total, 9,590 patients are in the active stage. The recovered cases are 3,494,522.

Regarding deaths, according to the information provided by the DEIS, in the last 24 hours there were 12 deaths from causes associated with the disease caused by coronavirus. The total number of deceased amounts to 57,539 in the country.

To date, 211 people are hospitalized in Intensive Care Units, of which 155 are supported by mechanical ventilation. In relation to the Integrated Health Network, there are a total of 340 critical beds available for the patient who requires it, regardless of the region where they are located.

Regarding the Laboratory Network and diagnostic capacity, the results of 48,384 PCR tests and antigen tests were reported yesterday, reaching a total of 37,050,142 analyzed nationwide to date. The positivity for the last 24 hours at the country level is 4.23% and in the Metropolitan Region it is 5.78%.

Regarding the Sanitary Residences, there are 27 accommodation facilities, with a total of 2,467 beds. The actual occupation at the national level is 28%, leaving a total of 1,498 beds available for use.
