COVID-19: Mexico exceeds 309,000 deaths from the pandemic

The SSa also reported that the number of accumulated infections reached 5 million 141,291. This Saturday another 35,243 were counted.

The first case of COVID-19 in Mexico was reported on February 28, 2020, that is, almost two years ago.

Mexico is already going through its fourth wave of infections, mainly driven by the Omicron variant of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. This variant is considered more transmissible than the others, although it is reported that it generally causes less severe conditions.

To reduce the risk of people getting seriously ill, authorities are urging everyone to get the booster shot.
