Covid-19 in Chile: eleven regions decrease their cases in the last seven days and thirteen do so in the last two weeks

The Ministry of Health updated the figures for positive tests and deaths from Covid-19 in Chile. Until 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, 4,185,247 cases of Coronavirus infection were reported, 7,546 new ones. Of these, 4,094 are symptomatic, 1,428 asymptomatic, and 2,024 unreported.

In the last 24 hours, 29 deaths have been reported according to the DEIS. To date there are 59,332 deaths associated with Covid-19. 176 people remain hospitalized in Intensive Care Units, of which 101 are connected to invasive mechanical ventilation.

In the last 24 hours, 52,329 tests were carried out, where a positivity rate of 13.19% was produced. To date, 41,696,315 have been performed, with a weekly positivity rate of 13.66%.

According to the Minsal, with this result, the variation of new confirmed cases at the national level is -9% and -18% for the comparison of seven and 14 days, respectively. Meanwhile, eleven regions have decreased their cases in the last seven days and thirteen have done so in the last two weeks.

Of the 7,546 new cases, 39% are diagnosed by antigen test, 48% originate from Active Case Search (BAC) and 26% of those reported are asymptomatic. As for the Metropolitan Region, it presents 24% due to antigen, 44% due to BAC and 19% of the notified cases are asymptomatic.

According to sample collection, the regions with the highest positivity in the last week are Antofagasta, Coquimbo, O’Higgins and Valparaíso.

Meanwhile, the Atacama region has the highest current incidence rate per 100,000 inhabitants, followed by the Arica, Antofagasta and Tarapacá regions.
