COVID-19 decreases in Nicaragua: 75 cases in a week, according to the Minsa

The Ministry of Health (Minsa) reported this Tuesday a decrease in the number of positive cases of COVID-19 in Nicaragua.

The health institution recognizes that between March 15 and 22, 75 infected patients. If compared to the previous week, there are 12 fewer cases. The health agency again assumed only one death from the virus in seven days.

In total, the number of deaths due to SarsCOV-2 reaches 227 and the number of infections reaches 18,298 since the first infected was reported on March 18, 2020. The health agency has not changed its death toll since October of 2020, assuming one death per week due to the pandemic, this despite the waves due to the variants of the virus that have triggered infections and hospitalizations.

“People who have been under responsible and careful follow-up for COVID-19 have often had associated conditions such as: high blood pressure, diabetes mellitus, obesity, heart disease, immunodeficiency syndrome, chronic kidney failure, a history of stroke, tuberculosis. lung and chronic lung diseases », details the Minsa report.

For its part, the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) revealed in a recent conference that “it has not been able to carry out an exhaustive assessment of the pandemic” because the regime of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo has not provided the necessary information to said organization.

“The information we have received has been succinct and almost exclusively through international health regulation channels. However, following the principles and mandates of the organization to support the countries and protect the health and well-being of the population, in this case of Nicaragua, we have continued to support the country to contribute to the continuity of health services remain not only for COVID patients, but for other aspects, including emergency management,” said Ciro Ugarte, PAHO Director of Health Emergencies.

Recently, the Minsa reported that vaccination against COVID-19 will not stop at Easter and that they have set up 54 mobile clinics that will be installed in the main spas throughout the country. Medical care will be provided at these sites and people who want it can be immunized against the coronavirus.

«We are going to have 170 mobile posts in recreational centers, they will be working from April 9 to 17 during Holy Week; 54 mobile clinics in spas and recreational centers to provide medical care. In terms of COVID-19 vaccination, we are not resting,” revealed the secretary general of the Minsa, Carlos Sáenz, on the official Channel 4.
