COVID-19 continues to gain strength, in the last 24 hours 2,117 new cases have been registered

Worrying is the increase in positive Covid-19 cases in the country, which denotes a fifth wave of infections. For this Thursday May 5th. In its daily report, the Ministry of Health (MINSA) reports 2,117 new cases with a positivity rate of 18.4%, higher than 17.9% yesterday, Wednesday. This implies an increase of 6.3% compared to previous days when positivity was at 12.1%.

The Minsa did not report deaths in the last 24 hours and the lethality continues at 1.1%.

The national head of epidemiology, Lourdes Moreno indicated that, when entering open spaces, understood where there are no walls or ceilings, the mask should be used in the event that the physical distance of one meter between people cannot be kept.

To date, there are 782,265 confirmed accumulated cases of Covid-19, of which there are 764,407 people recovered from the disease, of which 387 are added as new recoveries. 11,503 new tests were applied for a positivity of 18.4%.

Active cases in the country reach the figure of 9,669; 9,544 of them are in home isolation and 125 hospitalized. Those in isolation are divided into 9,524 at home and 20 in hotels. Those hospitalized add up to 109 in the Ward and 16 in the ICU.

The districts with the highest incidence of cases are: Juan Díaz (77); San Francisco (72), Chitre (65) and Rufina Alfaro (63).
