The Ministry of Health reports 4,064 new cases of Covid-19, with a positivity of 5.03% in the last 24 hours at the national level, with 75,979 examinations, PCR and antigen tests.
The Minister of Health, Enrique Paris, made an emphatic call to maintain self-care measures. “Let’s continue taking care of ourselves and reinforcing prevention behaviors during the summer with the presence of the Omicron variant in our country, which has proven to be highly contagious. During these holidays we must privilege outdoor activities, avoid places with crowds of people, maintain physical distance, wash hands and especially the use of a mask, which has proven to be an effective prevention tool against Covid- 19. But in order for its use to be effective, we must worry about changing it for a new one and discarding the old one when it gets wet, “remarked the country’s highest health authority.
According to the health authority, the positivity in the Metropolitan Region is 5% in the last 24 hours and 7 regions register a positivity equal to or less than 3%. The regions with the highest increase in new confirmed cases in the last week are Arica and Parinacota, Magallanes, Tarapacá and Antofagasta.
In today’s report, the nationwide variation in new confirmed cases is 87% and 66% for the seven and fourteen-day comparison, respectively. While 2 regions decrease their new confirmed cases in the last seven days and 6 do so in the last two weeks.
Of the total of new cases reported in the last 24 hours, 16% are diagnosed by antigen test, 46% originate by Active Case Search (BAC) and 29% of those notified are asymptomatic. In the Metropolitan Region, 12% of new cases occur due to antigen, 33% due to BAC, and 26% of the reported cases are asymptomatic.
Regarding these figures, the Secretary of State stated that “during this pandemic we have encouraged a culture of testing for the detection of COVID-19” and highlighted that “46% of the new reported cases originate from the Active Case Search ( BAC) that we carry out throughout Chile through testing operations that precisely focus on preventive action. These operations are carried out throughout Chile and they can check the location and hours on social networks and the websites of the Health Seremis nationwide ”.
The highest incidence rate per 100,000 inhabitants nationwide is registered in Tarapacá, followed by Arica and Parinacota, Magallanes and Antofagasta.
Minister Paris recalled that “starting tomorrow the vaccination of the fourth dose begins for immunocompromised people who have received their booster dose until September 12” and invited the population to “check the Minsal website to access the calendar and thereby be part of this vaccination campaign against Covid-19 “.
According to today’s report, of the 4,064 new cases of Covid-19, 1,912 correspond to symptomatic people and 781 do not present symptoms.
The total number of people who have been diagnosed with the virus in the country reaches 1,829,437. Of this total, 19,635 patients are in the active stage. The recovered cases are 1,764,731.
Regarding deaths, according to the information provided by the DEIS, in the last 24 hours there were 21 deaths from causes associated with the disease caused by coronavirus. The total number of deaths amounts to 39,272 in the country.
To date, 460 people are hospitalized in Intensive Care Units, of which 376 are on mechanical ventilation support. In relation to the Integrated Health Network, there is a total of 240 critical beds available for the patient who requires it, regardless of the region where they are.
Regarding the Laboratory Network and the diagnostic capacity, yesterday the results of 75,979 PCR tests and antigen tests were reported, reaching a total of 27,891,827 analyzed at the national level. The positivity for the last 24 hours at the country level is 5.04% and in the Metropolitan Region it is 5%.
