Brazil reached this Sunday (20) the mark of 644,286 deaths caused as a result of complications associated with covid-19. In 24 hours there were 406 new records.
The total number of people infected with the new coronavirus since the beginning of the pandemic rose to 28,208,212. There were 40,625 new positive diagnoses in 24 hours.
The number of cases under follow-up is 2,515,854. The term is given to designate cases reported in the last 14 days that were neither discharged nor progressed to death.
There are still 3,105 deaths under investigation. The deaths under investigation occur because there are cases in which the patient died, but the investigation if the cause was covid-19 still requires further tests and procedures.
To date, 25,048,072 people have recovered from Covid-19. The number corresponds to 88.8% of those infected since the beginning of the pandemic.
States
According to the balance sheet of the Ministry of Health, at the top of the ranking of states with the most deaths from covid-19 recorded so far are São Paulo (163,160), Rio de Janeiro (71,316), Minas Gerais (59,107), Paraná (42,049) and Rio Grande do Sul (37,908).
The states with the fewest deaths resulting from the pandemic are Acre (1,956), Amapá (2,097), Roraima (2,125), Tocantins (4,086, according to the latest estimate released) and Sergipe (6,217).
Vaccination
The latest data released by the Ministry of Health indicate that 379.2 million doses of vaccines were applied against covid-19, 170.8 million with the first dose and 155.4 million with the second dose or single dose. Another 47.8 million have already received the booster dose.
