The danger of COVID-19 does not disappear in the Huancavelica region, since after spending several months with zero hospitalized cases and few infected, now the evil is dissipating with more force.
According to reports from the Regional Health Directorate of Huancavelica, in the week of June 19 to 25, they registered up to 32 cases of this disease that claimed the lives of hundreds of Huancavelicans.
Likewise, in the week from June 26 to July 2, the figure rose to 102 infected patients and reported in health centers, a figure that did not stay there, since the following week, from July 3 to 9, it increased to 250.
And the statistics also show that from July 10 to 16 they registered an increase of 237 new patients in the entire Huancavelica region,
In total, throughout the year 2022, 10,809 COVID-19 patients have already been registered throughout the region.
As if that were not enough, in the case of acute respiratory infections, a total of 22,981 cases have already been registered in children under five years of age.
There were also 29 cases of pneumonia in children of the same age.
Faced with this situation, from the DIRESA Huancavelica they urged the population to take extreme preventive measures to avoid contagion of COVID-19.
“Since the last four weeks we have been experiencing an increase in episodes of COVID-19, specifically in the provinces of Huancavelica, Acobamba, Castrovirreyna and Tayacaja, this is mainly due to the fact that many residents have relaxed prevention measures, an aspect that in no way way they should neglect,” said the Supervisor of the DIRESA Epidemiology Office, David Enríquez Cusi.
He added: “You have to understand that vaccination is not going to prevent people from becoming infected with COVID-19, but it will get worse, require hospitalization and even die, this has been proven in the third wave, where there were many infections, however, few seriously ill patients and deaths, a context in which the vaccine has been essential”, he considered.
For this reason, they remember that they are applying the fourth dose of the vaccine to people who are over 30 years old and have been inoculated with the third five months ago.
Young people over 18 years of age can also be vaccinated in cases of having immunosuppressed comorbidities, with disabilities, vulnerable, health personnel, police, firefighters, security personnel, Serenazgo and cleaning workers.
