Even with the temporary suspension of the operation of ships of cruises in Brazilian ports, announced by operators on Monday (3), after the recommendation of the National Health Surveillance Agency (Ansiva) to suspend the season, the five ships that are in territorial waters reported 222 positive cases for covid-19 on board the vessels.
Data are from the latest monitoring update made by Anvisa, released last night (4). The resumption of cruise ship operations was authorized by the Interministerial Ordinance 658, of October 5, 2021, of the Civil House, and of the Ministries of Justice and Public Security, Health and Infrastructure. The rule provides for restrictions and temporary measures for entry into the country, as a result of the pandemic.

According to current protocols, the ship has a capacity for 3,016 passengers and is at level 3 of the epidemiological scenario. The MSC Preziosa docked this morning (5th) at the port of Rio de Janeiro, with 25 cases of covid-19 reported among the crew and eight among the passengers.
The operator MSC Cruises did not respond to the report to inform whether all passengers were disembarked or only those who tested positive. Passengers boarded on Sunday (2), same day that 28 people with covid-19 had disembarked from the ship in the Rio de Janeiro.
Residents of the city and nearby towns were directed to be isolated in their homes or relatives or friends. The nine people who do not live in the state were hosted in a hotel in the city, where they will remain in isolation for a period of 10 days from the onset of symptoms.

THE ship stopped activities on December 31, after notification of 51 crew and 27 passengers with the disease.
The vessel is in an anchorage area at the Port of Santos (SP), with no passengers on board, but there are 62 positive cases of covid-19 among the crew.

The ship has a capacity for 2,368 passengers and is in quarantine, with an epidemiological scenario at level 4.

According to the operator Costa Cruises, the ship left the Port of Santos on Monday (3), where there were no departures, and will dock tomorrow (6) in Rio de Janeiro, for the complete disembarkation of the passengers, who boarded that day. 30.
