Covid-19: Brazil records 28.05 million cases and 643 thousand deaths

Yesterday, the information panel of the Ministry of Health marked 27,937,835 accumulated cases.

The number of cases being monitored for covid-19 is 2,589,376. The term is given to designate cases reported in the last 14 days that were neither discharged nor progressed to death.

The total number of deaths caused as a result of complications associated with covid-19 reached 643,029. Between yesterday and today, 1,127 deaths were reported. Yesterday, the pandemic data system totaled 641,902 deaths.

There are still 3,105 deaths under investigation. The deaths under investigation occur because there are cases in which the patient died, but the investigation if the cause was covid-19 still requires further tests and procedures.

To date, 24,826,457 people have recovered from Covid-19. The number corresponds to 88.4% of those infected since the beginning of the pandemic.

The information is in the daily balance sheet of the Ministry of Health, released this Friday (18). It consolidates the information sent by municipal and state health departments on cases and deaths associated with covid-19.

States

According to the balance of the Ministry of Health, at the top of the ranking of states with the most deaths from covid-19 recorded so far are São Paulo (162,797), Rio de Janeiro (71,232), Minas Gerais (58,873), Paraná (41,998) and Rio Grande do Sul (37,846).

The states with the fewest deaths resulting from the pandemic are Acre (1,949), Amapá (2,097), Roraima (2,124), Tocantins (4,081) and Sergipe (6,203).

Vaccination

To date, 379.2 million doses of vaccines against covid-19 have been applied, 170.8 million with the first dose and 155.4 million with the second dose or single dose. Another 47.8 million have already received the booster dose.
