A new batch of 1,310,400 doses of Pfizer BioNTech vaccines arrived in the country this Wednesday, a donation from the United States Government, via the Covax Mechanism. To date, deliveries exceed eight million doses, certified by the World Health Organization (WHO).
It is estimated that this batch of vaccines will contribute to increasing vaccination of the population under 18 years of age. SAG, the WHO vaccine expert group, recommended the use of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine in children from the age of five.
This recommendation is based on the evidence of its safety and efficacy in this age group, says a press release from the WHO, jointly with Unicef.

“Thank the donors who contribute to Bolivia with the response to the pandemic, by helping to secure supplies, supplies and vaccines. So far, the United States, Spain, Sweden, France and Germany, with their solidarity, have joined and supported the management of vaccines for the Plurinational State,” the press release states.
PAHO and UNICEF join the exhortations made by the national authorities and the health sector unions that, in the face of upcoming festivities, prevention be prioritized and sustained to avoid new explosions of cases in the country and the arrival of new waves.
