Court sentenced General (r) Ángel Vivas for instigating the rebellion

The 1st Military Court of Judgment issued a sentence of seven years and six months in prison against the retired Army General, Ángel Vivas Perdomo.

The information was confirmed by his lawyer Alonso Medina Roa, who specified that Vivas Perdomo was found guilty of the crime of inciting rebellion.

Vivas Perdomo had a measure of freedom since June 1, 2018 granted by the Truth Commission of the National Constituent Assembly. He was detained in the Bolivarian National Intelligence Service (Sebin) since April 7, 2017.

During the so-called guarimbas of 2014, promoted by Leopoldo López (Popular Will), among others, President Nicolás Maduro accused Vivas Perdomo of promoting violent practices such as placing guayas on public roads.

In this sense, Maduro reported at that time (April 2014) on the death of Elvis Rafael Durán de la Rosa (29), a motorist who was traveling along Rómulo Gallegos Avenue who tripped over a guaya placed by violent protesters and died with his throat cut. .

That fact was minimized by the then president of the National Assembly, deputy Henry Ramos Allup, who referred to Elvis Rafael as “the dead guy from the guaya.”

In a parliamentary session in January 2014, Ramos Allup took stock of the deaths caused in the guarimbas and said: “I have heard almost with that tinkle that the 43 dead were as if the opposition had killed them, there were 43 dead, the dead man from the guaya was one, the dead man from the sniper was another”.
