Court sanctioned Gustavo Petro with a fine for disregarding appointments in the Creg

The Administrative Court of Cundinamarca declared that President Gustavo Petro incurred contempt of court for not managing the appointments of the members of the Energy and Gas Regulation Commission (Creg), and therefore sanctioned him to pay a fine of five minimum wages within a maximum period of 10 days.

Sanction Dr. Gustavo Francisco Petro with a fine equivalent to five current monthly legal minimum wages in favor of the National Treasury – Superior Council of the Judiciary – Executive Directorate of Judicial Administration, which must be paid within a period of 10 days, counted from the execution of this ruling, through a deposit that will be made in account No. 3-0820-000640-8 in the Agrarian Bank of Colombia for fines and bonds“says the first instance decision revealed by EL TIEMPO.

The rapporteur in this case is Judge Ana Margoth Chamorro, who weeks ago had opened an incident by concluding that The President has not provided compelling reasons for the delays in appointing regular commissioners in the Creg, key entity in Colombia’s energy sector that has been without a quorum to decide due to vacancies.
