The Federal Court of Administrative Justice (TFJA) returned to the Internal Control Body (OIC) of the National Electoral Institute (INE) the file of the administrative procedure against three directors and three former directors.

Those involved have pointed out that the investigation is a “nonsense” that threatens the independence and autonomy of the INE.

The auxiliary chamber transferred to the OIC the withdrawals promoted by deputy Sergio Gutiérrez Luna (Morena) and the letter from the president of the Chamber of Deputies, as well as the INE’s request to be an interested third party in the process opened due to alleged serious irregularities.

Claudia Zavala is one of the counselors involved in the matter that originated in 2021 when, in a majority vote, the general council of the INE determined to extend the execution of the Revocation of the Mandate of the then president Andrés Manuel López Obrador under the argument that he did not have sufficient budget to organize that consultation.

When asked his opinion that the fate of this file once again goes to the OIC, he reiterated that the procedure is nonsense.

“Here there is no conduct that fits into the causes of responsibility of all public servants. It is about the independence of the body, and independence has to do with the way we vote. Here the only reason the procedure was opened is because of the way we voted. There is no other action, no other conduct that could be reprehensible,” she said in an interview.
