Santo Domingo.- Judge Fátima Veloz, of the Judicial Office of Permanent Attention of the National District, reserved her decision on the coercive measure against Freddy Núñez and Evaristo Ozoria Rodríguez for 7:00 p.m. this Friday the 8th. president and treasurer of the Modern Pentathlon Federation, respectively.
The Public Ministry has requested house arrest for Ozoria Rodríguez and preventive detention for Núñez, within the framework of an investigation that the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Prosecution against Administrative Corruption (PEPCA) maintains into alleged acts of corruption in the sports entity.
During the hearing, Ozoria Rodríguez stated that he left signed blank checks in the custody of the Federation secretariat to ensure payment to athletes and coaches.

This information was confirmed by his lawyer, José Fis, who argued that this demonstrates the defendant’s commitment to the responsibilities of the federation.
The file, presented by PEPCA, contains 757 pages and more than 200 pieces of evidence that detail an alleged embezzlement scheme, falsification of documents and fraud to the detriment of the Dominican State.
This process is part of PEPCA’s efforts to combat corruption in entities that manage public funds.
On Friday, October 25 of this year, the Public Ministry, through the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for the Prosecution of Administrative Corruption (PEPCA), reported that together with members of the National Police and Special Units it carried out several raids in a case of corruption in the sports against members of the Dominican Federation of Modern Pentathlon (Fedopem).
Residences were raided in the National District and the María Trinidad Sánchez province, as well as the facilities of the Dominican Modern Pentathlon Federation, located in the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center.
