As occurs in every electoral process, elements of the National Defense Secretariat (Sedena) guard the perimeter of the building, located in the south of the city, and an operation will be carried out to prevent the closure of access to supporters, since this time protests are not expected.
Last Thursday, August 8, in an extraordinary session, the Superior Chamber of the TEPJF resolved the 240 non-conformity lawsuits against district counts of the presidential election in some polling stations and classified them as inadmissible or inoperative, thus ruling out cancellations; it also dismissed 78 appeals for being untimely or having other deficiencies in their presentation.
On Monday, August 12, the full court of judges will meet to discuss and resolve the so-called “mother appeal,” the appeals in which the National Action Party (PAN), the Democratic Revolution Party (PRD) and the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) –the latter separately- demanded the annulment of the presidential election.
The discussion will include the Trial for the Protection of Political-Electoral Rights (JDC) promoted by Xóchitl Gálvez, in which she demands the declaration of interference by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador in all stages of the electoral process.
In addition, the judges will receive the report from the National Electoral Institute (INE) on the oversight of all federal elections, for president, Senate and Chamber of Deputies, with the conclusion that there was no exceeding of the campaign limit in the presidential election.
With all these inputs, the resolution of all the Non-Compliance Judgments on the election, the information on the result of the oversight and the resolution of the main trial, the TEPJF will enter the administrative stage of the qualification of the presidential election.
This will consist of the public session to be held on Wednesday, in which the Superior Chamber will carry out the total count of the presidential election, verify that the winning candidate meets the eligibility requirements and carry out the final and definitive count of the presidential election.
Once this opinion has been voted on, the president of the Superior Chamber, Mónica Soto, will issue the final declaration of validity of the election and that of Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo as president-elect, for which the certificate of majority will be delivered.
Following this act, the formal process of transition in the Presidency of the Republic will begin.
