”The National Autonomous University of Mexico recognized that Yasmín Esquivel Mossa met each and every one of the requirements to obtain the degree of graduate in Law, which is consistent with the declaration of the civil judge of Mexico City, which indicates that “She is the only owner of the copyright on her professional thesis,” the minister said in a statement.
In the letter, spread on social networks, he demanded that the UNAM, through the Attorney General and the Rector, “respect the principle of legality and legal certainty, as well as all the rights derived from the professional title obtained legitimately and legally almost ago.” 40 years, without its validity being questioned by the University during that time.

At the end of 2022, Esquivel Mossa was accused of alleged plagiarism of her law degree thesis; It was said that she took the text from another student, Édgar Ulises Báez, who finished his studies a year before her, in 1986.
The minister attributed the plagiarism accusations against her to an attack for political purposes, when she was competing to preside over the Supreme Court.
“There was never any plagiarism in the bachelor’s thesis that Yasmín Esquivel Mossa presented almost 40 years ago. It was all a political attack to disqualify her in the race for the Presidency of the Court.
“Minister Yasmín Esquivel Mossa has always been a defender and respecter of the rule of law, as well as a proud graduate of her alma mater, the National Autonomous University of Mexico,” she indicated in her positioning.
