In the last few hours, the Superior Court of Ibagué ordered the arrest of President Iván Duque for contempt related to the Parque los Nevados case.
The decision was made after the president disregarded the decision of the Supreme Court of Justice.
And it is that recently he would have been ordered to form a group of special public force for the custody of the Los Nevados National Natural Park; this after serious damage to public order, water shortages, flora and fauna trafficking in a protected area, among others, were evident.
The order had to be fulfilled in a year, during this time his entire team had to create a plan to guarantee all the optimal conditions in this natural ecosystem.
However, according to the Superior Court of Ibagué, the country’s president failed to comply with the ruling and to date, no results have been seen that benefit and protect this water source.

“In accordance with the provisions of article 52 of Decree 255) of 1991, the five-day house arrest measure is imposed as a sanction for the contempt in which the President of the Republic has incurred,” the measure states.
The document instructs the director of the National Police, General Jorge Luis Vargas, “to attend to the functions of the Police in the Palacio de Nariño.”
On the other hand, a fine equivalent to 15 legal monthly minimum wages in force is imposed, unless compliance with the order considered non-compliant is proven.
