The Third Chamber of the Criminal Chamber of the Court of Appeal of the National District yesterday ratified the 20 year prison sentence imposed on Argenis Contrerasmain accused of kidnapping and murder of the lawyer and professor Yuniol Ramirez Ferreras.
The judges Daniel Nolasco Olivo, Nancy María Joaquín Guzmán and Jury Tavariz Núñez they rejected the appeal filed by Contreras, thus confirming the 20 year sentence dictated in first instanceby not detecting vices in the appealed decision.
He Public Ministry was represented before the appeal court by prosecutors Jonathan Perez Fulcar and Wagner Goblet Garcíarepresenting the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for the Prosecution of Administrative Corruption (PEPCA)who presented the legal and evidentiary foundations that support the condemnatory sentence.

Statements during the process
During the process, Argenis Contreras declared that he was summoned to participate in a plan to give him a “tomb” to the lawyer Yuniol Ramirezrelated to a sum of money that he would receive as part of a extortion which, he alleged, he had organized against the Metropolitan Bus Services Office (OMSA).

Conviction
He October 28, 2024he First Collegiate Court of the National District condemned 20 years in prison to Argenis Contrerasrepresented by attorney Plutarco Jaquezbeing pointed out as the main material author of the kidnapping and murder of the lawyer and university professor Yuniol Ramirez Ferreras.
Likewise, the court ordered the confiscation in favor of the State of the ford truckcolor blueused in the homicide of Yuniol Ramirez.
Ramirez Ferreras was found deadwith a concrete block tied to the neck by a chainin a Hato Nuevo streamin Santo Domingo West.
After the fact, Contreras fled towards the USAwhere was caught and, three years laterdelivered to the country, thanks to the efforts of the current management of the Public Ministry.
He crimeoccurred in October 2017was linked to acts of administrative corruption in the Metropolitan Bus Services Office (OMSA)during the management of Manuel Rivaswho had been appointed director in August 2012 and was in office at the time of the murder.
