Court issues preventive detention against MP lawyer

He Investigative Court of the judicial district of Villa Altagracia imposed three months of preventive detentionas a measure of coercion, to a lawyer employee of the Public Ministryaccused of the murder of her romantic partner.

The event occurred in June 2022in it Vista Hermosa sector of the municipality of Villa AltagraciaSan Cristóbal province.

According to a statement from the prosecution body, Anny Margarita Laureano Reyesarrested by Public Ministryserved as lawyer of the Prosecutor’s Office Villa Altagracia at the time of murdering his romantic partner, Cecilio Ramírez Agustín, alias Piloto.

By decision of the Judge Sudelgy Rosariothe accused will comply with the preventive detention in the Najayo prisonin San Cristobal.

The facts

The accused, arrested last December 30 in the Las Caobas sector, in Santo Domingo Oeste, committed the act on July 26, 2022 when, according to the investigation, he attacked with a knife to Ramírez Agustín and gave him 48 stab wounds in the neck, face and chest, causing external bleeding, according to the forensic judicial autopsy.

The evidence indicates that, to simulate a robbery, Laureano Reyes stole the personal documents, jewelry and phones victim’s cell phones. In addition, he took a quilt, covered his face and left him seriously injured, locked in the apartment, and then fled the scene.

Laureano Reyes went to the scene the morning of the day after the murder, the July 27 of 2022, in the company of the second police lieutenant Miguel Andres Polancowho at that time was assigned to the Prosecutor’s Office of Villa Altagracia.

Polancoupon noticing that the accused was knocking on the door without receiving a response from inside the house, went up to the apartment and, after forcing one of the metal sheets of the windows in order to look inside, found the victim’s body lying on the floor.
