Court issued a custodial sentence against four policemen

The 42nd Court of Control of Caracas issued a prison sentence against four police officers from the Sucre municipality (Miranda), accused of allegedly belonging to a criminal organization, according to judicial sources.

The hearing for the presentation of the uniformed officers was held last Sunday at the Palace of Justice in Caracas, where Mayerlin Gamez, Elkis José Racero Pitalua, Michael Steven Euluaga Aponte and Ángel Frailerman Jiménez were transferred, according to file 42C-20.008-22.

During the hearing, the Public Ministry charged the uniformed officers with the crimes of embezzlement, fraudulent embezzlement, aggravated corruption and conspiracy.

Judge Ángela Carrillo Carrillo accepted the imputed criminal prequalification, decreed deprivation of liberty and ordered the agent to be confined in the National Institute for Women’s Orientation (INOF) and the three men in the Yare III Judicial Confinement Center, according to official letter No. 232-22.

The Public Ministry maintains an open investigation to determine the possible participation of other Sucre police officials in the events detected.
