Santo Domingo.- El Court of Children and Adolescents of the National District imposed a month of preventive detention as a coercive measure against two students from the Juan Pablo Duarte High School accused of attacking a teacher.
The adolescents, whose names are omitted for legal reasons, must comply with the measure in the Comprehensive Care Center for Adolescents in Conflict with the Criminal Lawknown as City of the Child.
The attacked teacher is Naomi Anderson Solano. The incident occurred last Thursday, when students they hit the teacher within the educational center.
With this measure, the court seeks ensure due process while developing research corresponding to the case.
Representatives of the Dominican Association of Teachers (ADP) thanked the court for the decision in favor of the teacher.
They assured that they will exhaust all the resources necessary for peace to reign in the schools and so that the educational community as a whole can have the opportunity to work in safe environments.
They considered that an example has been set today and urged parents to follow up with their children.
They requested the Ministry of Education to have greater surveillance in schools.
