SANTO DOMINGO.- The Peace Court of the First District of the National District imposed periodic presentation as a measure of coercion against Alicia Anabel Santos Díaz and Yoseli Castillo Fuertes, charged with insulting the National Anthem during a cultural activity.
Both defendants organized the circulation of a text and promoted an event in which they invited the public present to stand up and sing the “National Anthem”, using the official music, but with its lyrics altered.
Prosecutors Rafael Reyes, María Miguelina Palma and Emmanuel Ramírez, representing the Public Ministry, requested the imposition of a financial guarantee of one million pesosperiodic presentation and impediment to leaving the country.
Judge Katherine Rubio Matos accepted the request of the prosecution body and ordered that the accused appear every two months before the investigative prosecutor’s office.
In addition, it granted a period of six months for the Public Ministry to complete the investigation and present a conclusive act.
He arrest of Alicia Anabel Santos Díaz54 years old, occurred under the protection of Court Order number 2025-AJ0051862, issued by Judge Fátima Veloz, of the Tenth Investigative Court of the National District, assigned to the Judicial Office of Permanent Attention Services, on August 7, 2025.
According to the investigation, the articles that punish the crime are 37, 39 and 49 of the Law 210-19, that regulates the use of national symbols of the Dominican Republic.
In addition to being aware of the fact spread on social networks, the Public Ministry received formal complaints from the Permanent Commission of National Ephemerides (CPEP), the Duartiano Institute and other organizations, which demanded the application of the sanctions provided for in the Dominican legal framework.
